St Catherine's Catholic College, Singleton, is a Kindergarten to Year 12 college nestled in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales.
The college community is very proud of its Catholic heritage. The school has a close relationship with the Catholic Parish of Singleton and the Sisters of Mercy. The school's vision is that St Catherine's Catholic College community are ambassadors for Christ, striving to bring faith and culture into peace and harmony. In our relationships with each other, we accept and encourage the unique creativity and integrity of each person.
The core values of the college are harmony, faith and integrity which is also the college motto. It is through the knowing and living of these values that the students, parents and staff strive to achieve our vision. St Catherine's students are clearly identified in their distinctive, modern uniform and have earned the respect of the wider Singleton community.
St Catherine's College is unique in that they are the only K-12 school for the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle system of schools.
As a K-12 school, St Catherine's students can complete all the elements of a primary and secondary school education at the one campus, from Kindergarten through to the completion of the Higher School Certificate in Year 12. While providing a full and comprehensive learning program, St Catherine's also provides opportunities for the students to be extended in the academic, sporting and cultural areas. The college has a Learning Support Unit that operates from the Learning Support Centre. The Learning Support Coordinator, support teachers and teacher's aides in this area work with students, teachers and parents to assist the students in developing their social and academic skills.
In the last two years the community, with assistance from the Commonwealth Government's Digital Education Revolution, has invested significant resources and training to support the implementation of information and communication technology across the school. This technology is used to enhance the quality learning and teaching already available to the students and staff.
The college is very proud of its academic and sporting achievements but it would be the outstanding results the students have achieved in the performing arts that has set St Catherine's apart from other schools.
In recent years at the completion of Year 12, over 90% of St Catherine's students obtain either entry to their chosen University course, their first choice of employment or are offered an apprenticeship. St Catherine's is the lead school in the Singleton Community Learning Cluster Trade Training Centre initiative established in 2009 in partnership with Singleton High School, Singleton Christian College and TAFE. St Catherine's offers an industry standard Primary Industries course for the students as part of this consortium.
St Catherine's Catholic College accepts girls and boys, Years 7-12, from the areas of Branxton (where transport is more convenient than it is to Lochinvar) and girls and boys Year K-12 from the area of Singleton.
