Students Walk the Stations of the Cross

7th April, 2026

Last week, students at St James’ Primary School, Kotara South participated in the Stations of the Cross, walking through different points of the school grounds to reflect on each moment of Jesus’ journey and its meaning in their lives. At each stop, a class-created wooden cross marked the station, helping to guide students through the story in a tangible and meaningful way.

Each wooden cross was thoughtfully designed using symbols inspired by Aboriginal storytelling. Drawing on the work of Aboriginal artist Richard Campbell, students explored the significance of each station while developing a deeper understanding of cultural respect and connection.

As students moved through the Stations across the school, the experience became more than a retelling of the Easter story. It provided an opportunity to pause, reflect and consider the challenges, choices and experiences that shape who we are. Students made meaningful connections between the Stations and their own lives, deepening their understanding of the story.

The care, reflection and creativity demonstrated by students throughout the project were commendable, bringing the story to life in a thoughtful and engaging way.
