Last Friday over 140 Maitland Newcastle students represented & did our Diocese proud at the Polding Athletics Championships. Our Diocese hosted the event with families travelling from as far as Lismore, Armidale, Bathurst, Wilcannia Forbes and Broken Bay.
Our Maitland-Newcastle students performed very well with an exceptional 25 individual students medalling & qualifying for the Polding squad to compete at the NSWPSSA Athletics Championships at SOPAC. Many of these students medalled in multiple events. We also had St John the Baptist Primary School, Maitland girls relay team medal. A huge number also made it to the finals and while many didn’t medal, they represented our Diocese with pride and honour and ran, threw and jumped to the best of their ability. Congratulations to each student who attended.
Miller Austin from St Columba’s Primary School, Adamstown set a new record in the 1500m Girls 8-10yrs smashing the previous record by 19 seconds – 5:08.78. Oliver Sciulli from St Joseph’s Primary School, Merewether equalled the record in the 12yrs boys 100m -12.38.
