Our Catholic secondary schools have a seat for every student

Operating 11 secondary schools and two K–12 schools, the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle provides education across the communities of Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, the Manning Valley and Upper Hunter Valley regions. Together with 45 primary schools, these vibrant learning communities form part of a system committed to making a profound difference in the lives of young people, their families and the communities it serves.

With more than 5,000 dedicated staff educating over 21,000 students, our Catholic schools ensure each and every child is known, valued and supported to achieve their best. We believe education should nurture the whole person – academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally – and that every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths and find their purpose.

Whether students intend to study at university, follow a TAFE pathway, or move directly into the workforce after school, our Catholic secondary schools provide the expertise, facilities and care to support them every step of the way. From modern learning hubs and STEM laboratories to workshops, industrial kitchens and cafés for Vocational Education and Training (VET), our schools are equipped to help students turn their passions into pathways.

Our secondary schools offer a range of opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Students can participate in co-curricular activities such as social justice initiatives, STEM projects, visual arts, drama, music and representative sport – all designed to inspire curiosity, confidence and creativity.

For those with a passion for the arts, our ASPIRE program provides an exciting platform to perform, create and collaborate through an annual original production that brings together hundreds of students in dance, drama, vocal, set and costume design, stage band and production teams. It is a dynamic platform where students can develop industry skills.

At the heart of every Catholic school are values that build character, such as compassion, justice, service, truth and respect. These values are not only taught but lived daily in our communities, shaping young people who are confident, kind and ready to make a positive difference in the world.

Catering to a range of learning needs, our schools provide individualised support to help students reach their full potential. Our experienced teachers and learning support teams deliver high-quality education, underpinned by care, inclusion and a strong sense of belonging.

With welcoming, inclusive communities and a commitment to helping every student thrive, there is a place for every learner in our Catholic secondary schools. We invite families to learn more about the pathways and possibilities available.

There is a seat for every student.
