Recently St Kevin’s Primary School, Cardiff, gathered to celebrate an extraordinary milestone – Martin Vaughan’s retirement after an incredible 46 years of dedicated service to Catholic education. That number alone speaks volumes, but it’s the way Martin has spent those years that leaves a lasting legacy.
Martin’s greatest strength has always been his quiet, respectful manner. In a world that often feels rushed and noisy, Martin has been a calming presence – steady, reliable, and deeply admired by both teachers and students. His gentleness and kindness have touched countless lives, and his deep knowledge of each student has ensured that they felt valued and supported.
As a colleague, Martin is the definition of genuine care. He is always friendly, always interested in other staff and their families, and always ready to listen. Even on the busiest days, Martin has a way of making everyone feel supported. He shows up for people – not just in words, but in actions.
