Earlier today, the Hunter Valley Police District held their Medals and Awards Ceremony, with Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon in attendance. Year 2 students from St James’ Primary School Muswellbrook were honoured to sing the National Anthem to open the ceremony, along with another song titled ‘Together.’ The lyric “I need you and you need me to make up this community,” felt especially fitting for the occasion.
Following the ceremony, Commissioner Lanyon visited the school’s courtyard and spent time speaking with Year 5 students. He answered a wide range of their questions from how long he has served in the force, to what it takes to become a police officer, and even questions about the recent Bondi event. He was relaxed, open and incredibly generous with his time.
Commissioner Lanyon also shared with Principal Aaron Moon how impressed he was with the students and school community.
