The occasion marked the culmination of a journey that began more than a decade ago when the Medowie site was first purchased. Since opening its doors in 2021, Catherine McAuley Catholic College has grown into a thriving learning community, and the completion of these facilities brings the original vision for the College to life.
The celebration was led by Bishop Michael Kennedy and attended by Fr Joyce Sebastian Victor, Jacqueline Wilkinson, Director of Catholic Schools Maitland-Newcastle, Kate Washington MP, Member for Port Stephens, and Kevin Morrison, Director of Capital Planning and Resources at Catholic Schools NSW. They were joined by diocesan leaders, parishioners, families, students, staff, and project partners who have all contributed to the College’s remarkable journey.
While the new buildings represent a significant achievement, the true success of Catherine McAuley Catholic College lies in the vibrant, faith-filled community that has grown alongside them. In just a few short years, the College has become a place where students are empowered to learn and grow, enriching both the local community and the wider region.
This milestone reflects the dedication, vision and commitment of all those who have helped shape the College, from the earliest planning stages through to the thriving school it is today.
These new learning and community spaces will support generations of students, ensuring the Mercy values that underpin Catherine McAuley Catholic College continue to inspire and guide young people for years to come.
