Friday marked a special milestone for St Francis Xavier’s Primary School, Belmont, as the school celebrated 75 years of Catholic education in the Belmont community.
The school first opened its doors in 1950 as St Joseph’s Primary School, guided by the Josephite Sisters and supported by a parish committed to nurturing faith and learning. Over the decades, the school has grown with new buildings, new programs, and in 1996, a new name that better reflected its connection to the Belmont parish: St Francis Xavier’s Primary School.
To honour the milestone, the celebration included a special Mass, morning tea, and a special performance from students based on the history of the school for past and present members of the community to gather, share memories, and celebrate all that has been achieved.
