Students from across the Diocese enjoyed a successful day of competition and sportsmanship at the annual Diocesan Netball Championships, with this year’s event marking a significant milestone as the tournament celebrated its 25th year.
The championships brought together schools from across the Diocese for a day filled with spirited competition, teamwork and enjoyment, with students embracing the opportunity to represent their schools and compete against their peers.
Championship Results
Several schools excelled across the age divisions, with the following teams claiming championship honours:
Year 7/8 Boys
- Winners: St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton
- Runners-up: San Clemente College, Mayfield
Year 7/8 Girls
- Winners: St Joseph’s College, Aberdeen
- Runners-up: St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar
Year 9/10 Boys
- Winners: San Clemente College, Mayfield
- Runners-up: St Joseph’s College Aberdeen
Year 9/10 Girls
- Winners: All Saints College, Maitland
- Runners-up: St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar
Year 11/12 Girls
- Winners: St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar
- Runners-up: St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead
The success of the championships was also supported by the dedicated efforts of umpires from Trinity College Adamstown, St Mary’s Gateshead and St Bede’s Chisholm, who officiated the grand finals, along with the many umpires who volunteered their time throughout the day and our Netball Convenor Annette Morgan, St Mary’s Gateshead for her extensive planning of the day.
