Louiza Mavros from Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie has been recognised with the Excellence in Teaching: Vocational Education Emmaus Award, celebrating her outstanding commitment to vocational education and the meaningful opportunities she creates for students.
An exceptional Vocational Education teacher, Louiza combines expertise, professionalism and genuine care to help students achieve strong learning outcomes while preparing them for successful pathways beyond school. Her students have consistently achieved outstanding results, including Band 6 performances in Entertainment and Music, reflecting her high expectations and dedication to excellence.
Louiza is also the driving force behind Starry Starry Night, the college’s annual showcase of student creativity and collaboration. The event brings together students across multiple vocational disciplines, with Hospitality students catering, Entertainment students managing sound and lighting, and Construction students building the stage and sets. Under Louiza’s leadership, the event has become a powerful example of integrated vocational learning, allowing students to apply their skills in an authentic, real-world setting.
Her teaching is built around learning experiences that reflect both curriculum requirements and industry expectations. By designing engaging, practical opportunities, Louiza supports students to develop not only technical expertise but also the confidence, communication and workplace skills needed for future success.
Working closely with colleagues, industry partners and families, Louiza helps students transition into further training, apprenticeships and employment. Central to her approach is the strong relationships she builds with each learner, creating supportive environments where students feel challenged, valued and capable of achieving their goals.
