Excitement Builds for Catherine McAuley Primary School at Information Evening

23rd June, 2026

There was a sense of excitement and possibility in the room as families gathered for Catherine McAuley Primary School, Medowie’s recent Information Evening, offering a glimpse into the opportunities that will be available when the new school opens in 2027.

Focused on students entering Years 3 to 6, the evening brought together prospective families eager to learn more about the school’s vision, meet members of the growing staff team and discover what life at Catherine McAuley Primary School will look like.

A key focus of the evening was the range of opportunities that will be available to students both inside and beyond the classroom. Families heard about the High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) approach, which will provide extension and enrichment opportunities tailored to students’ strengths, interests and learning needs.

Families heard how the school’s sporting pathways will provide students with opportunities to develop their talents, represent their school and engage in diocesan, regional and representative sporting opportunities.

Also hearing from the ASPIRE program was another highlight, showcasing opportunities for students to explore their talents through visual arts, music, drama and creative expression.

Principal Samantha Kelley said the evening was an opportunity for families to see how Catherine McAuley Primary School will nurture each child’s individual strengths while building a vibrant and inclusive community.

“We want families to feel excited about the opportunities that will be available to their children and the chance to be part of something special from the very beginning,” Samantha said.

“Our vision is to create a school where students are encouraged to discover their strengths, pursue their passions and develop the confidence to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.”

For many families, the evening offered more than just information about a new school. It was an opportunity to imagine what it will be like to help shape a new community, build lasting friendships and create traditions that will grow alongside the school itself.

As Catherine McAuley Primary School prepares to welcome its first students in 2027, the Information Evening provided an exciting preview of the learning opportunities, strong wellbeing support and sense of belonging that will be at the heart of the school community.

Applications are now open for students in Kindergarten to Year 6.
