Last Friday, Holy Cross Primary School, Glendale, came together as a community to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Cross and ‘Are You OK?’ Day.
Students reflected on the meaning of the Cross, drawing inspiration from the examples of Jesus and Catherine McAuley, who both modelled lives of love and mercy. They also considered how the simple question “Are you OK?”, offers a practical way of living out the Gospel message in everyday life.
Following the liturgy, students created individual crosses to represent Jesus’ love and their commitment to follow His example. These crosses were placed in the school garden, turning it into a space of peace, prayer, and kindness.
The day concluded with the wider school community gathering for stalls, a barbecue, and shared activities. This provided an opportunity for celebration, further strengthening the bonds of community while embodying the Mercy spirit that is central to life at Holy Cross.
