In the Media: Catholic school students paint a dystopian reality at Civic Theatre

5th August, 2025

It’s the future. Emotions are banned. Technology is outlawed.

A small but hardy group of rebels decides to take a stand.

On the Civic Theatre stage, Catholic school students painted a dystopian reality through their production The Rise of Bozz.

More than 150 students from primary and secondary schools across the diocese of Maitland Newcastle took to the stage from July 30 to August 2 as part of the annual ASPIRE program.

Trinity Catholic College student Ivy Jones stars as River, a student who joins the rebellion and pushes back against their society’s leaders.

“It’s a really thrilling, compelling story, especially for our younger audiences, and really for everyone of all ages,” she said.
