This term has seen an exciting new initiative for our students with disabilities who often don’t always get a chance to play on their school teams or represent their school. Whilst students have always had opportunities for entering in multi class events for selected sports, this term the Diocese offered its first All Ability Sports Day.
Secondary students from across the Diocese gathered at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility to participate in the Fast Five Multi Sport Gala Day. Dressed proudly in their school jerseys, students displayed outstanding determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day, despite the warm conditions. Their enthusiasm and effort on the field were truly commendable.
Special mention to the student referees, who did an excellent job encouraging, guiding and officiating the games with fairness and confidence.
The event offered a wonderful opportunity for students to learn new skills and represent their school communities. It was a day filled with fun, fitness and build friendships, a celebration of sport and spirit for all involved!
