Literacy Comes Alive: St Joseph’s Interactive Writing Fair Shines

26th September, 2025

Last Friday, St Joseph’s Primary School, Charlestown brought literacy to life with their annual engaging and interactive Writing Fair. This year, the event featured a captivating “Mystery Briefcase” theme, complete with a touch of police intrigue.

The day began with some serious investigating by Sergeant Caitlyn, who interrogated a few teacher suspects. Students then stepped into the role of detectives, with each year group exploring a series of clues discovered around the mysterious briefcase. Working together, they examined the evidence, pieced together hints and tried to uncover the identity hidden within the briefcase.

The day encouraged critical thinking, collaboration and a love of literacy, as students eagerly deciphered each clue. Teachers and staff joined in the fun, helping guide students through the challenges and celebrating their problem-solving successes.

At the end of the day families enjoyed visiting classrooms, seeing the wonderful student writing on display, and joining in the fun.

By combining mystery, teamwork and writing, the day inspired students to think imaginatively, celebrate their achievements and see the joy in storytelling.
