Three boys & two girls from Maitland-Newcastle Primary Schools travelled to Tamworth last week for the Polding Tennis Trials.
The boys played up to 5 round matches in their pool games, each winning all but one game in the increasing Tamworth heat. All three boys played very well throughout and achieved 2nd place in their respective pools. Well done to Logan Ward (St Joseph’s East Maitland), Anthony Huggins (St Joseph’s Merewether) and Oliver River (St James Kotara South).
The next rounds were in extremely hot conditions & were all played with long rallies and deep court shots.
Congratulations to Oliver & Logan who were named in the Polding team with Anthony being named 1st reserve.
Sofia McConville from St Aloysius Chisholm won all of her round games and continued the day only losing 1 game and was selected in the Polding team to play in Parramatta in May.
A big congratulations to all students who represented the Dioceses.
