Register now for Karen Young’s webinar: ‘Big feelings, big emotions and big behaviour’

7th May, 2026

As parents and carers, we all want to support our children as they grow, from the early years through to adolescence. But when big feelings show up as big behaviour, it can be hard to know what to do in the moment, no matter your child’s age.

In this warm and practical webinar, parenting expert, author and presenter Karen Young will help you make sense of what is going on beneath your child’s behaviour and offer simple, realistic ways to respond that build connection and emotional strength over time.

Designed for parents and carers of both primary-aged children and teenagers, this session recognises that while children and teens express emotions differently, their need for understanding, safety and connection remains the same. You will gain insights and strategies that can be adapted to suit your child at different stages of development.

Together, we will explore:

  • why big feelings happen and what they are telling us across childhood and adolescence
  • how children and teens rely on trusted adults during emotional moments
  • practical ways to respond to challenging behaviour with calm and clarity at different ages
  • how to set boundaries in ways that strengthen relationships
  • what helps children and young people build their emotional skills over time
  • how to reconnect after difficult moments, including as children grow older and more independent

You will also be encouraged to reflect on your own role as a steady, reassuring presence in your child’s life, whether you are supporting a younger child or navigating the complexity of the teenage years.

This session is about supporting, not perfecting. You will leave with a deeper understanding of your child at any age, along with simple strategies you can use straight away to support their wellbeing and your relationship.

Places are limited, and this webinar is offered free of charge to parents and carers in our school communities.
