24th September, 2025

By Rebecca Kearns, Assistant Principal, Holy Spirit Infants School, Abermain

We are proud to celebrate Mrs Kate Kreutzer, who was invited to present at the Mathematics Association of NSW (MANSW) Annual Conference in Wollongong on Friday, 19th September. This prestigious opportunity recognises her outstanding work as a mathematics educator at Holy Spirit Infants School, Abermain.

The MANSW Annual Conference is described as the premier event for mathematics educators in NSW, offering rich professional development, networking opportunities, and the exchange of innovative teaching practices.

Mrs Kreutzer presented on her implementation of the “Launch, Explore, Summarise” pedagogy and framework, developed through our professional learning partnership with mentor Fiona Foley. Her presentation highlighted how this approach has transformed her mathematics teaching – creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that challenge and support all students.

She also demonstrated how she integrates this pedagogy with the Numeracy Learning Progressions to effectively differentiate her lessons, allowing her to assess and cater to a diverse range of learners.

Her work was well received by fellow educators and academic researchers, showcasing the impact of thoughtful, evidence-based practice in the classroom.

We congratulate Mrs Kreutzer on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for her leadership and innovation in mathematics education.
