Students of St Joseph’s Primary School, East Maitland recently made their Civic Theatre debut with an original musical.
Mercy Rocks is a bold and imaginative production written by St Joseph’s own students under the guidance of local creative mentor Anna Kerrigan. What began as a handful of ideas in the classroom grew into a full-scale musical featuring every student from Kindergarten to Year 6, complete with live choir, original choreography, handmade props, and a story that’s equal parts chaos and charm.
The show followed a group of students who stumble into a whirlwind adventure after opening a book on Greek mythology. Their journey through fantastical worlds reveals the true meaning of the school’s Mercy Values: Respect, Hospitality, Compassion, Courage, Service and Justice.
Bursting with laughter, learning and a touch of magic, Mercy Rocks celebrated the creativity and spirit of the St Joseph’s community.
