Several outstanding VET students from three Catholic schools were recognised at the Youth Express VET Awards Evening last Thursday in Maitland.
The awards recognise individuals who demonstrate excellence in VET and a passion for vocational learning as a springboard to further training and employment.
In each category, there were a large number of nominees representing schools from all education sectors.
Congratulations to the following students
Bella Taylor (Entertainment Industries) and Amalie Roesler (Hospitality) from Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie, and Zoe Messina (Retail Services) from St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar who were finalists in the Robert Beggs Memorial VET Student category.
The winner of the Robert Beggs Memorial VET Student Award was Gabrielle Widdis from St Joseph’s Catholic College, Aberdeen who studied Construction.
Completing the clean sweep for Catholic Schools in the Youth Express awards was Sarah Lyon (Hospitality) from Catherine McAuley Catholic College who won the Peter Hilder Memorial Award for Outstanding Indigenous VET Student.
It was a proud moment to see these confident and competent young women recognised for their dedication and commitment to vocational education. Sincere thanks to their VET teachers for nominating them and their support.
