About St Benedict's Primary School

St Benedict's Primary School Edgeworth's Mission Statement is to provide a place where children grow in their Catholic faith and celebrate God's gifts; a place where children experience a safe and loving environment where both Christian values and educational standards are high.

At St Benedict's, the dedicated and hard-working teaching and support staff place great significance on the relationship between the school and the home and acknowledge parents as the foremost educators of their children. St Benedict's looks to build upon the foundations created at home in a challenging, interesting and meaningful manner. Parental involvement benefits a child's development and assists in building a rich school community and we welcome, appreciate and rely upon it. The school is privileged to be part of a partnership with parents that will contribute to their child's total development, assisting them to be responsible for their actions, be self-motivated, be able to solve problems and to think independently.

As a member of a Catholic school community we are given an opportunity to live our faith by reflecting core values of truth, justice, acceptance and forgiveness in all we do. As a consequence, the Religious Education of the children and the creation of a faith-filled atmosphere within the wider parish community is a priority. As a Catholic school community we actively aim to express Christian values throughout the curriculum and the general life of the school.

At St Benedict's we take great pride in the quality of our students and in the high standing they have in the local community. We are particularly proud of the work throughout the year to support National agencies like Catholic Mission, Caritas and St Vincent de Paul. We also take great pride in the support we give our local Sugarloaf Parish's work in Vietnam.

All curriculum areas are well supported and Literacy, PDHPE and Information Technology are seen as school strengths. The Student Welfare policy has an emphasis on reward, encouragement and building self-esteem. During the year we provide special and extra-curricula programs including music, Rock and Water, gymnastics, Life Education, Friendship Programme, dance, intensive swimming, excursions and visiting performers.

We also participate in many educational and sporting competitions. St Benedict's provides an inclusive atmosphere that is open and friendly. We believe that by praying and working together, embracing each other's energy and providing mutual support, we can achieve our individual and common goals.

Students of St Benedict's Primary School, Edgeworth are encouraged to continue their Catholic education by attending St Paul's High School, Booragul.
