Students are encouraged to develop their self-expression, self-conﬁdence and self-awareness both inside and outside the classroom with the creative arts curriculum. Students are exposed to a variety of opportunities through music, dance and drama and are encouraged to express their creative talents and showcase their abilities through the annual school musical/drama night, private music tuition and participation in extra-curricular activities such as Raw Art and Operation Art.
Participation, enjoyment and skill development are the cornerstones of the school sport and physical activity program at St Columba’s. The school ensures that physical activity and healthy living is a vital part of the student’s weekly routine and aims to increase opportunities for students to be more active, make friends, build proﬁciency in fundamental skills and learn physical and social skills on the ﬁeld. Offering a morning ﬁtness program twice per week, the school also offers a range of sports across both the internal and external sporting program. Students have the opportunity to compete at representative levels in swimming, cross country, athletics and in a variety of team sports during the winter and summer season.
In 2017 St Columba’s introduced a new multi-purpose learning environment that focuses on aspects of outdoor and natural play. The area features a number of natural elements as well as cubbies and platforms to encourage play, exploration and discovery.
The school also features a Kitchen Garden that allows students to have a better appreciation of food production and gain knowledge and conﬁdence in growing fresh produce, learning how to harvest, plant, mulch and prepare food.
St Columba’s recognises the vital role parents play in the education of their children and encourages them to be involved in a wide range of areas including the school’s Parents & Friends Association, school celebrations, reading/learning programs, excursions, sporting activities and the school canteen.
A Before and After School Care service is provided by Adamstown OOSH Inc for students of St Columba’s, catering for students ﬁve days a week from 7.30am in the morning and 3.00pm in the afternoon.
