We recognise that this is one of the most important decisions as parents or carers, you will ever have to make. However, you can be rest assured that our 44 primary schools, 12 secondary schools, one K-12 school and one special school will offer your child a nurturing, encouraging and safe environment to learn, achieve and grow academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally from Kindergarten to Year 12. Thank you for taking the first step in considering a Catholic education for your child in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle for 2022.
You can use the "School Finder" (located on the top right of this page) to find your closest Catholic school. Alternatively, you can call the Catholic Schools Office on (02) 4979 1200 to enquire.
How to enrol in a Catholic school
To enrol your child at one of our primary or secondary schools, simply click on Request an Enrolment Pack above. Complete the enrolment form and provide all required documentation directly to the school when applying for enrolment.
Applicants are asked to attend an interview with the Principal. Interviews begin in Term 1 or 2, and continue through to Term 3 depending on applications received.
Parents/carers receive offer of a place at the school in writing in Term 3.
Orientation for students will be held in Term 3 or 4 depending on the school.
When is the enrolment period?
Catholic schools accept enrolments at any time of the school year and you are encouraged to enquire about any availabilities should you wish to have your child attend a Catholic school mid-way through the year.
However, enrolments into Catholic schools for the following year take place between February and June and in particular in March during Catholic Schools Week, when parents and their children are invited to come to the school’s open day and enrol.
How old does my child need to be to enrol in Kindergarten?
Children who turn five years old on or before May 31 are eligible for enrolment into Kindergarten for that year.
Does my child need to be Catholic to attend a Catholic school?
No. The Catholic school is open to all who want to share its educational goal, inspired by Christian principles. For more information, view "Does my child need to be Catholic to go to a Catholic school?"
A small number of places in schools in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle may be available to students on visas who share our Catholic faith and ethos. At the present time, no students with a visa subclass 500 are able to be enrolled into diocesan Catholic schools.
