St Mary's Primary School, Warners Bay, is a systemic Catholic school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The school’s ethos is based on gospel values and offers a happy, welcoming environment in which all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential. School and Parish have strong connections through liturgical celebrations, celebrations of the Sacraments and the fostering of a meaningful prayer life where children develop a personal relationship with their God. St Mary’s welfare policies include anti-bullying and an affirming award system.

Parents are involved in school life through the P&F, classroom help, canteen, library, excursions and a large number of extracurricular activities. St Mary's provides high quality, stimulating and innovative educational programs which cater for the needs of all students. Curriculum strengths: literacy and numeracy, IT skills utilising the computer laboratory, Smartboards in all classrooms, one-to-one devices in Years 5 and 6, integrating IT in all Key Learning Areas, extension for gifted students and assistance for students in need. Students have the opportunity to participate in individual IT programs such as LEXIA, Mathletics and Reading Eggs.

St Mary's gives students a well-balanced education through participation in a myriad of cultural, creative and sporting events. The school has a specialist Music teacher K-6, a concert band, rock band, two choirs and three folk groups, and these groups have won a number of awards.

Sporting opportunities include interschool soccer, netball and rugby league, school, regional and Diocesan swimming, athletics and cross country, Year 2 Intensive Swimming program and many clinics. Students have won many sporting events, both in teams and as individuals, with a strong representation in Diocesan and Polding teams. Other extracurricular activities include environmental groups, interschool chess, debating, art competitions, incursions and excursions.

The school plays an important role in the local community by support of various community initiatives, attendance at local events, e.g. ANZAC dawn service at Speers Point, and by supporting fundraisers for those in need. St Mary’s is involved in a substantial Landcare Environmental Program under the guidance of Warners Bay Landcare. The school also has a structured Wellbeing focus centred on the “You can Do it” Program and under the framework of Kids Matter.

St Mary’s achieves its mission by following the teachings of Christ, accepting, respecting, and supporting all members of the school community through open communication and encouraging parent participation.

Students of St Mary's Primary School, Warners Bay, are encouraged to continue their Catholic education by attending St Mary's High School, Gateshead or St Paul's High School, Booragul, depending on their address.
