About St Joseph's Primary School

St Joseph’s Primary School, Bulahdelah is a small co-educational parish primary school in the Myall Coast Parish of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. It draws its enrolment from the Myall coast towns of Bulahdelah, Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest as well as the surrounding regions.

We acknowledge our parents and carers as the first educators of their children and seek to work alongside you, to develop and educate the whole child socially, emotionally, academically, spiritually and physically. We value a strong, supportive and involved Catholic school community. Here at St Joseph’s we seek to create an environment where all children, staff, parents and carers feel valued, included and engaged. We work to provide a school environment where all students feel safe and all members care and support each other.

Our teachers are professional educators committed to the development of the whole child. We strive to place all students at the centre of all that we do so that they can thrive, engage, explore and be motivated to succeed. High expectations about providing ‘best practice’ teaching ensures that student data informs all decision making, and planning personalises learning for each student.

We have a learning environment that allows each student to be empowered and challenged as they communicate with truth, clarity and integrity, and learn about their ever-growing and changing world. We strive to provide a safe, harmonious and effective environment that is conducive to quality learning and teaching, and our classroom spaces are vibrant, organised and stimulating. They consist of interactive touch screens, computers and other electronic devices providing our students with access to eLearning via various modes.

Professional learning for teachers is a high priority at St Joseph’s Primary School so that we may respond to the needs of the students in a strategic and productive way. Building teacher capacity ensures that skills, knowledge and strategies are current, evidence-based and productive towards student growth and gain. St Joseph's is a Catholic school committed to an education that is centered on Christ and the Gospel values. These are implicit in every aspect of school life and define our interactions with one another.

Our school motto, ‘Loving, Learning and Living like Jesus’ reflects the important example of Christ, as we endeavour to reach out to those in need in our community and be ever mindful to be continually thankful for all that we have been given. We strive to meet all with peace and love.

Students travelling from the Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest areas are provided a private bus to catch to and from school every day.

Students of St Joseph's Primary School, Bulahdelah are encouraged to continue their Catholic education by attending St Clare's High School, Taree or Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie.
