Children’s Week is a national celebration of children’s rights, talents and citizenship. The Children’s Week National Theme for 2023 is based on Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC):
Children have the right to relax, play and to join in a wide range of leisure activities.
Children’s Week is from Saturday 21st - Sunday 29th October 2023. We are excited to launch the Digital Art Book and Online Gallery to acknowledge and celebrate Children’s Week as a diocese and raise awareness of children’s rights and the work of the UNCRC. This project was initiated to support the implementation of the Wellbeing Framework and Early Learning philosophy that advocates for student voice and agency in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

In Term 2, we invited students K-12 to contribute to a Digital Art Book to acknowledge and celebrate Children’s Week. Over 400 submissions of art and stories were received which express ideas and creativity about the importance of play, rest and leisure in Article 31 (UNCRC). This book showcases an exciting and diverse selection of student art submissions and the Online Art Gallery contains all student art submissions received for Children’s Week from across the diocese.
Thank you to all students, parents and teachers who supported student to participate in this Wellbeing and Early Learning initiative.
