Corpus Christi Primary School, Waratah takes great pride in our Catholic identity and Dominican history and traditions. Our school motto: "Veritas" (Truth) is lived out every day as we are committed to holistic education - spiritual, academic, social, cultural, emotional and physical development of each child.
Our expression of the Gospel values is evident in all Key Learning Areas and the general life of the school. This is mirrored in our vision statement: "…to develop each child to their full potential in a Catholic environment that encourages parents as partners and nurtures honesty, acceptance, equality and community participation through school, parish and family life". Working with the school staff are our students, their parents and parish members who together, have built an excellent reputation which is recognised for the value we place on social justice.
An integral part of our school is its pastoral care, with social skills lessons being taught in all classes, Restorative Justice modelled and practiced. Our Pastoral Care worker co-ordinates Seasons groups and mentoring for students as well as providing general personal advice, care, support and comfort to students, their families and staff. Our school community reflects the diversity of Australian society with families of differing cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Our inclusive education involves a specialist ESL and Learning Support teacher to assist students and staff in their teaching and learning.
Corpus Christi Primary School values and encourages academic achievement at all levels and in all learning areas. Many opportunities are provided for students to participate in extra-curricular activities such as debating, national and international competitions, excursions and incursions, Parish and diocesan celebrations and Mini-Vinnies. The students enjoy weekly music lessons through the employment of a specialist music teacher. These lessons culminate in school concerts performed for parents and members of the wider community.
All students are given opportunities to develop various sporting skills, with a focus on the acquisition of skills through daily physical activity. Our school has achieved excellent sporting results over many years.
